At 11,500 ft, Khaliya is the most accessible high-altitude meadow in Kumaon. A trek that starts in the forests of Munsiyari, climbs past oak and rhododendron, and opens up to vast ridgelines with the entire Panchachuli range before you. For beginners, it’s a perfect introduction to the Himalayas; for seasoned trekkers, it’s a short, soul-stirring escape.


One trek. Many views. Here’s how.
Day 1 – Arrival in Munsiyari
A full-day drive through Ranikhet, Kausani, and Birthi Falls before descending into the Munsiyari valley. Check into Wayfarer Lodge, nestled in forests with sweeping Panchachuli views.
Day 2 – Forest Trails
Begin your trek with an 8 km ascent through oak and rhododendron forests, climbing steadily to Bhujani at 10,000 ft. Camp overnight in a meadow surrounded by towering ridges.
Day 3 – The High Meadow
Climb to Khaliya Peak at 11,500 ft for 360° Himalayan views of Panchachuli, Rajrambha, and Nanda Kot. Continue along the ridge to Bhaisiya Tal for another panoramic campsite.
Day 4 – Into the Woods Again
Descend gradually through ridgelines and alpine stretches before reaching Martoli Thor. Set up camp in a quiet forest clearing under starlit skies.
Day 5 – Back to Munsiyari
Trek back down to Wayfarer Lodge, returning through rhododendron valleys. End the day with hot showers, hearty meals, and a sunset over the mountains.
Day 6 – Departure
After breakfast, say goodbye to the Panchachuli skyline and begin your onward journey with memories of peaks, meadows, and starry camps.
