Sangla Valley*

Sangla: Wild, High, Quiet

y

Intermediate

A once-in-a-lifetime road trip into the raw, untouched side of Himachal. The journey leads you to Sangla Valley — perched at 2,260 ft in Kinnaur — through winding mountain roads and along the Sutlej River. Stay by the Baspa, surrounded by snowcapped peaks. Explore village trails, glacier treks, and apple orchards (in season), all wrapped in the quiet magic of the mountains.

One road. Many moments. Here’s how.

Day 1 – The Drive Begins

Leave Delhi by early morning and head towards Thanedar or Narkanda (approx. 11–12 hrs). Settle in by sunset and ease into the altitude with a relaxed evening and bonfire.

Day 2 – Into the Valley

After breakfast, begin your drive along the Sutlej River toward Sangla. The journey (approx. 5 hrs) winds past small towns and deep valleys. Arrive by evening and soak in the mountain air by the fire.

Day 3 – Soft Steps & Silence

Ease into Sangla with a gentle walk along the Baspa River. Carry a packed lunch or relax at the retreat — today is about slowing down and letting the place in.

Day 4 – High Trails & Snow Lines

Trek into the higher reaches of the valley — to Rakcham, Sangla Kanda, or nearby glaciers. With guides and packed lunch arranged, this is your day to climb, explore, and earn the view.

Day 5 – A Day for Stil

Spend the day at the retreat — read, rest, or wander nearby. No agenda, just air, silence, and space to take it all in.

Day 6 – Chitkul: The Last Village

Drive to Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibet border. Wooden homes, Baspa views, and Tibetan food greet you here. It’s a one-hour drive each way, but worth every turn.

Day 7 – On the Way Home

Depart Sangla after breakfast and drive to Chail (approx. 7–8 hrs). Stay the night to break the return journey. Tomorrow, it’s back to Delhi — but the valley stays with you.
