Mountain Trail- The only Classified Hotel in Mukteshwar, situated at 2300 m (8000 ft.) ASL, is an idyllic, perfect spot for your relaxing holidays as well as adventures activities in the lap of nature. Set on a gentle hill slope, facing towards the Himalayas, deep valleys and the sunrise, spread out amidst a 2-1/2 acre of lush green fresh fruit orchard with over a 100 fruit trees, wild and ornamental flower beds with over 70 variety of flowers. Mountain Trail is truly a round the year resort with all the Nature around. In summer it has the ideal climate for a perfect getaway, with pleasant days & cool nights. During monsoon months it is lush green, as far as your eyes can see. Autumn brings splashes of rust and vermillion hues to the trees while winter covers the sleepy little hamlet in a blanket of snow.

Though Mountain Trail is the ONLY classified resort in Mukteshwar ( by Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of India), it does not boast of Luxury. It however assures of all basic amenities, comfort, cleanliness, hygiene, delicious homelike food & courteous services.

The architecture is designed to blend with nature. This picturesque small resort is built entirely in hill cottage style. The TEN 15' X 13' DBL- Bedrooms have a very decent sized attached western toilet and a verandah or glazed sit out facing the valley. All rooms are on ground floor and are spread out in the orchard. In addition it has two, well furnished quadruple rooms, which have a quiet and private environment with mini lawns to themselves.

The resort has a cozy multi-cuisine restaurant serving North Indian Cuisine, local Kumaoni cuisine & select Chinese & Continental dishes, a sports room with a Table Tennis Table, Carom Board, Fooze Ball Table, Dart Board and some Board Games. The resort also houses a small library with an exhaustive collection of books and a party hall for evening rendezvous. You can pick up some memorabilia from our gift shop selling handicrafts, local products and the best of all savour Mountain Trail’s Centre Filled European Chocolates made at the Resort’s Chocolate Kitchen. The resort has a Doctor on call + a well equipped clinic which is run by an N.G.O, very close to the resort. Travel helpdesk, Hot/Cold running water minimum 6 hours a days, stand by generators / inverter, stand by central water heating boiler apart from the regular electric geysers, separate Driver Accommodation at reasonable charges. To maintain serenity and ambience we have no Televisions in rooms.


Picnics, day outs to unexplored beautiful spots, tucked away into the wild with cascading hill streams and waterfalls. Try some bird watching, star gazing, soft trekking, evening bonfires which can also be complimented by a guitarist. Explore the neighbourhood by some forest and village walks with guides. Experience the Kumani folk dance and song performances. Drive out for day excursions to the neighbouring lake towns of Nainital, Bhimtal, sattal and Naukuchiatal. Experience Adrenal rush while rock climbing / rappelling at the Mukteshwar Cliff. If you want more try your hands on river crossing, zip line, ladder climbing and archery. Groups can also arrange Yoga and Meditation programs at the resort. Please note that some services / activities need advance booking.

The resort is the first in Mukteshwar which brought the destination on the tourism map, thus uplifting the local community. It employs 100% local labour & services. Some of the current employees have worked as labourer with the project & are with us for the last 18 Years. Housekeeping is instructed strictly to switch the 'room mains' off as soon as guests leaves/departs. To save energy 90% of the bulbs used are CFL that too mostly of 8-11 watts range. Water is from a Natural spring source & collected by harvesting rain water. Water usage guidelines are displayed in each room. Towels / Linen suggested not to wash everyday.

Cisterns are set at water saving levels The architecture is absolutely vernacular & blends with the village surroundings. These are ground level cottages only & has minimal impact on the natural surroundings. Mostly Traditional building methods and local craftsman / builders are used. Waste is segregated as WET & DRY. Wet is used for manure in our orchard & Dry is transported to municipal dumps for recycling. No chemicals or inorganic fertilizers are used only natural manure. Eco Soap/Shampoo is purely herbal to avoid chemical discharge. Dos/Don'ts to protect environment are displayed on two 'Information Boards' at the reception itself. This makes guests aware of Hotel’s environmental friendliness & consequently learn to respect local surroundings, people, culture & traditions. Only paper bags are used in our gift shop. There are no Televisions in the rooms. Old sheets & towels are cut to create cleaning rags. 75% of our promotion is done through websites / e-mails rather that printed leaflets / brochures to save paper. The gray water from the bathroom is filtered through natural soil & then used to water our garden. Employees are given annual paid leaves. Local guides are used to enhance the experience & provide an income to the hosts. An organic wild life garden has been created with a mix of Fruit Trees, wild flowers, Shrubs, ornamental flowers, local plants, vines, grass etc. to attract all sorts of birds, butterflies, bees, caterpillars, snails, amphibians, reptiles, insects, small mammals, organisms in the soil etc. Bird Houses, Bird baths been placed all over the resort to attract various species of birds. All House keeping cleansing products are environment . Fire wood used is only procured from afforestation projects / dead trees allotted & then transported to our resort. Seasonal vegetable is procured from local sources only. Furniture is all made within the district only. Compared to when we took over the 2-1/2 acres land to build a resort the greenery is now at least 3 folds with almost over 100 fruit trees.

Mountain Trail is the Only Classified resort (by Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of India) at Mukteshwar. It has also been approved as an Eco lodge by various International Eco societies/associations. This eatery is very different from the other joints in this area. It has open air seating in an orchard along with seating in a cosy little covered dining area. This is one café/restaurant which offers a great variety of food in one place. Not to be found in any other eatery in and around Mukteshwar.
